Visitor Tracking and UTMs

Understanding where your visitors come from helps you invest in the right marketing channels.

How visitor tracking works

Your site uses Vercel Analytics to track visitor behavior. This includes:

  • Page views and unique visitors
  • Session duration
  • Referral sources
  • Device and browser breakdown
  • Geographic location (city level)

Tracking is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies. Visitors are counted anonymously unless they submit a form and identify themselves.

UTM parameters

UTM parameters are tags you add to URLs to track the source of traffic. The format is:

https://yoursite.com?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spring-launch

UTM parameter breakdown

| Parameter | Purpose | Example | |-----------|---------|---------| | utm_source | Where the traffic comes from | instagram, google, newsletter | | utm_medium | The marketing medium | social, email, cpc, banner | | utm_campaign | The specific campaign name | spring-launch, q2-investor | | utm_content | Differentiates variations | blue-button, hero-image |

Use UTM parameters on every link you share externally. This lets you see exactly which Instagram post, email campaign, or ad generated a specific lead.

Viewing UTM data

UTM data appears in:

  • Analytics dashboard — Traffic breakdown by source and campaign
  • Contact records — The CRM stores the UTM parameters from the lead first visit, so you know which campaign brought them in
