Root Domain, www, and CNAME Explained
The root domain is the address without www. The www address is a subdomain. Your setup may use different DNS record types for each.
Where to find it: Admin → Settings → Domain
What to do
- Decide which address you normally want visitors to share.
- Add every record shown by Domain Management, including any separate www record.
- Do not point both records somewhere else at the same time.
- Wait for both addresses to show Active before considering setup complete.
Good to know
- Redirection between root and www is handled after the domain is connected.
- A CNAME points a name to another host; an A record points a name to an address. Always use the type shown on screen.
