Remove or Replace a Custom Domain

Custom domains can be removed when they are no longer used. Primary or built-in addresses may be protected from removal.

Where to find it: Admin → Settings → Domain

What to do

  1. Add and verify the replacement domain before removing the old one whenever possible.
  2. Update links, email signatures, profiles, and advertising that use the old address.
  3. Remove the old custom domain from Domain Management.
  4. Remove or update its DNS records at the domain provider.
  5. Test the replacement address from a signed-out browser.

Good to know

  • Contact support if the interface says a primary or built-in domain cannot be removed.
  • Removing a domain can break saved links and search results; use redirects when applicable.
